The protest was said to have caused by the inability of its ATM to dispense the new naira notes and the rejection of old Naira notes.
The Nigeria Police Force, Delta State Command, has said it has arrested at least nine suspects connected to the burning of two generation banks in Warri on Wednesday.
SaharaReporters earlier reported that some angry youths in Warri town, Delta State, on Wednesday set fire to one of the branches of Access Bank and Union bank while protesting against the persisting scarcity of Naira notes that had forced many businesses across the country to shut down.
This was captured in viral videos showing the angry youths protesting around Udu road axis disrupting the vehicle movements and destroying valuable properties in the area.
The protest was said to have caused by the inability of its ATM to dispense the new naira notes and the rejection of old Naira notes.
However, speaking with SaharaReporters on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Edafe Bright, noted that nine suspects had arrested so far.
“Two banks were set ablaze, Access and Union banks, and two vehicles also. Nine suspects so far arrested,” he said.
